We stand at a crossroads. The pandemic disrupted multiple systems in our society: healthcare, transportation, caregiving, schools, workplaces, the food supply chain, and others. Now we have an opportunity to rebuild these systems to make them more resilient in the face of future shocks. Retrofitting our transportation, energy, material, food, and other systems to be more nimble and have a lighter environmental impact requires workers.
Financial and personnel resources stand ready to be deployed in service of this vital transition. Those in a position to invest in the future of work will realize financial, social, and environmental returns. The workers who apply their talents and skills to this vision will be filled with a sense of meaning and purpose.
At Manzanita Works, we believe that there are clues right in front of us at a local level that can help us navigate a rebuilding of our safety net and anticipates the future of work for the decades ahead.
Join us to help make a more resilient future a reality.

Before cloth masks were readily available during the pandemic's shelter-in-place order, Manzanita Works organized bilingual online sewing circles for community members interested in learning how to sew masks. In collaboration with the Mountain View Tenants Coalition, the Day Worker Center of Mountain View, the Kafenia Peace Collective, and Environmental Volunteers, 'Cosera' provided masks for essential and service sector workers while helping foster skills and community.
